Import Tool

An import tool is a component that enables ViziGen to import modelling data from an XMI file produced by an external modelling tool. It is a type of "provider" in Microsoft .NET parlance.

Import Tools are installed automatically when ViziGen is installed but if you are having problems importing you should consult the ViziGen web site for details of the import tools that are available in case new ones have been developed that work with the XMI files produced by your external modelling tool.

The behaviour of an import tool is controlled by a configuration file that enables the import tool to handle different types of XMI file (i.e. XMI files produced according to different releases of the XMI specifation or different software vendors interpretations of a specification). If you are having trouble importing please do not hesitate to contact us to see if we can create either a new import tool or a new configuration file for you. There is no charge for this service.
